Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is structured conversation with a trained clinician, aimed at changing something — how you respond to stress, how you relate to people, patterns you keep repeating, or the weight of something that happened to you.

Providers in the network offer psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults, drawing on evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), EMDR for trauma, and supportive and psychodynamic work. Which approach fits depends on what you're working on and how you prefer to work.

Some people come for therapy alone. Others combine it with medication management — for a number of conditions, the two together work better than either on its own.

What to expect. Early sessions are mostly about understanding what brought you in and what you want to be different. From there, you and your therapist set the direction together. Sessions usually start weekly and space out as things improve. How long it takes varies a lot, and your therapist should be able to talk with you honestly about that as you go.
